Tokyo Games Fan Fest

USOPM’s Tokyo Games Fan Fest is a free, outdoor Olympic festival taking place July 29 through August 1. Make plans to visit the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum where you can cheer on Team USA with a 50-foot screen, a wide selection of food and beverages, and special Olympic and Paralympic guests.
Tokyo Games Fan Fest (Day 1) Schedule
7/29/21: 10:00am – 10:00pm
Fan Fest hits the ground running with four Olympians joining the Museum for autograph signings, sport demonstrations and more. Guests will have the chance to meet Olympians Hilary Wolf Saba (judo // 1996, 2000), Cliff Sunada (judo // 1996), Barb Kunkel (taekwondo // 2000) and Jenny Arthur (weightlifting // 2016). Visitors may get to try their hand at judo, karate, taekwondo and goalball led by some of Team USA’s best.
Additionally, there will be a myriad of other activities for all ages, including the Coke Zone games and prize tent, the Golfopotamus learn-to-chip challenge and the chance to win prizes by attempting to score on a life size soccer goal with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks!
The Museum’s outdoor 50-foot video screen will be airing coverage of the Tokyo Olympics all day, and visitors can engage in the excitement with USOPM & Team USA Merchandise, a variety of food and beverages and KCSF-AM’s Ryan Kaufman, who will be broadcasting live from the Plaza.
Tokyo Games Fan Fest (Day 2) Schedule
7/30/21: 10:00am – 10:00pm
Fan Fest will be brimming with athlete visitors and event demonstrations. Olympians Bonnie Blair (speedskating // 1988, 1992, 1994), Susan Rapp von der Lippe (swimming // 1980, 1984, 1988), Jim Campbell (ice hockey // 1994), Dennis Van Valkenburgh (canoe // 1964), Barb Kunkel (taekwondo // 2000) and members of the 1984 Olympic women’s gymnastics team will all be there to speak and lead various activities and interactive sports demonstrations including handball, skateboarding, goalball and taekwondo.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet a number of other special guests, including the Air Force Academy Falcon, Ziggy the Switchbacks FC Mascot, and KIBT-FM’s Cheeba, who will be broadcasting the Rhythmic Top 40 live.
The Golfopotamus, the Coke Zone, and the 50-foot outdoor viewing screen airing the Olympics on the Plaza will all be back, as well as additional activations presented by Comcast, Air Force Academyand Ent Credit Union.
Tokyo Games Fan Fest (Day 3) Schedule
7/31/21: 10:00am – 10:00pm
Day 3 of Fan Fest will be in conjunction with the City of Colorado Springs’ Sesquicentennial Downtown Celebration! The Museum will have seven Team USA athletes: Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee (track & field // 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996), Bonnie Blair (speedskating // 1984, 1988, 1992, 1994), Steele Johnson (diving // 2016), Bradie Tennell (figure skating // 2018), Karen Chen (figure skating // 2018), Vincent Zhou (figure skating // 2018), and Paralympians Kirk Black (Paralympic curling // 2018), Chris Clemens (Paralympic track and field // 2012) and McKenna Geer (Paralympic shooting // 2016, 2020).
Along with a wide array of Tokyo themed food and beverages, guests will learn about triathlon on Sierra Madre, figure skating on a synthetic ice rink and wheelchair basketball on Vermijo – all from athletes themselves!
There will be lots to see: on the ground, guests can enjoy the Museum’s 50-foot screen covering all the Tokyo 2020 action on the Plaza, special musical performances by Denver Taiko, Hickabee, WireWood Station and Martini Shot, as well as the live remote broadcast of Hot AC from KVUU-FM. When guests look up, they will see the xfinity Hot Air Balloons as well as the Flying Aces trampoline acrobatics team taking to the skies!
Tokyo Games Fan Fest (Day 4) Schedule
8/1/21: 10:00am – 10:00pm
Day 4 ends Fan Fest with a bang. The USOPM is welcoming 2016 bronze-medalist Olympic wrestler J’Den Cox to sign autographs and meet guests. Professionals will be demonstrating taekwondo, fencing and judo as well.
The Comcast activation and the Coke Zone will return and be joined by the ZooMobile and the Air Force Academy’s Glider & Flight Simulator.
The 50-foot screen will be airing coverage from Tokyo for all guests to enjoy while KILO-FM’s Rock records live at the Museum.
