Preserving the stories of America's greatest athletes

For more than a century, athletes have given their all – years of dedication, sacrifice and intensive training focused on the goal of representing the United States at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

By doing this, the stories of America’s greatest athletes forever are preserved for future generations.

The Museum works to achieve this goal in a number of ways, including interviews with athletes and a partnership with StoryCorps, a nonprofit organization that is a leader in recording and preserving the stories of Americans from all backgrounds. StoryCorps interviews match two or three interview partners, usually with a common bond, for a casual conversation. Additionally, these sessions become part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
