As the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum draws closer to opening, Museum Chief Executive Officer Christopher Liedel recently was interviewed by the Colorado Springs Gazette and provided an update on the Museum in a question-and-answer format.

Set to open later this year, the 60,000-square foot U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum is dedicated to U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and their compelling stories, with the artifacts, media and technology behind the athletes who make the United States proud. The Museum will focus on the core values of the Olympic and Paralympic movements: friendship, respect and excellence; determination, equality, inspiration and courage.

After guests enter the Museum and receive their credential, the Museum path starts with an elevator ride that takes all guests to the top floor. From there, a ramped path winds progressively downward to the main floor creating a parallel visit experience for all guests on the journey through 12 interactive galleries.

The Museum has drawn considerable attention this year. Conde Nast Traveler included the Museum among its list of 9 Museum Openings Worth Planning Trips Around in 2020. Architectural Digest listed the Museum among the “leading design-forward museums opening this year” and one of the most anticipated buildings of 2020. Smithsonian magazine included the Museum among its Most Anticipated Museum Openings of 2020 and The New York Times listed the Museum as one of the Places to Go in 2020.
