Discover the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, where captivating exhibits unveil the history, culture and aspirations of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, spanning from ancient Olympia to the modern Games.
At the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, inclusivity is at the core of our design philosophy. We have incorporated universal and inclusive design elements to maximize accessibility for all guests.
Our commitment to accessibility is evident through various features:
Accessible media: Our screen media is thoughtfully designed to ensure inclusivity, with automatic accessibility services. Guests can choose their preferred services during registration, including audio-described video, text-to-speech screen readers, high contrast, and larger font sizes.
Audio descriptions: For guests who select audio descriptions during registration, a tactile floor strip triggers automatic audio descriptions upon entering each gallery. These descriptions provide a six-minute introduction to enhance the experience.
Wheelchair accessibility: All galleries are wheelchair accessible, featuring gentle-grade ramps throughout the Museum.
Tactility: Touchscreen interactives are equipped with tactile keypads, aiding screen navigation. Where possible, retractable keypads are provided.
Open captioning and American Sign Language: All video content and interactive media throughout the Museum include open captions and American Sign Language.
The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum is Sensory Inclusive Certified by KultureCity.
Additional accessibility services: Upon request, we provide various accessibility services, including transport chairs, and accessible styluses for touchscreens. Complimentary weighted lap pads and sensory bags containing special badges, fidget tools, noise-canceling headphones, and other resources are available at the front desk.
Low-sensory experiences: We offer low-sensory versions of select exhibit experiences and films upon request. Please inquire with a Museum Team Member for more information.
Certified service animals: Visible indicator-certified service animals are welcome in the Museum. Emotional support animals are not permitted on the property.
If you have any inquiries about the Museum’s accessibility services, please don’t hesitate to email us at contact@usopm.org.
