The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum installed the last of the nearly 9,000 unique, diamond-shaped, custom aluminum panels on the building’s exterior on Wednesday morning. Museum CEO Christopher Liedel, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, Visit Colorado Springs President and CEO Doug Price, G.E. Johnson President and CEO Jim Johnson, Museum Vice President, Athlete Engagement Michelle Dusserre Farrell (1984 Olympic gold medal gymnast) and Paralympic swimmer Erin Popovich (a 2019 U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame inductee) were among those attending an event to commemorate the milestone.

“What an amazing moment, to see all of these diamond panels – no two alike – installed,” Liedel said. “We can’t wait to finish construction and showcase this incredible testament to the men and women of Team USA and their amazing stories.”

Located in southwest downtown Colorado Springs – Olympic City USA – the Museum will be a one-of-a-kind tribute to the Olympic and Paralympic movements with Team USA athletes being at the center of that story. The Museum is set to open this May and is part of the City for Champions initiative.

There is still time for those who want to support the Museum to sponsor one of the exterior panels in the Diamond Donor Program.
