COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo –
The U.S. Olympic Museum is now a little closer to becoming a reality.
We now know who is scheduled to build and design the $60 million project.
A total of five different groups will work on different parts of the museum.
GE Johnson of Colorado Springs will serve as the general contractor.
The museum will be built on land that was recently donated near America the Beautiful Park. While many of the firms are from outside of the city, the museum itself will still create jobs in Colorado Springs.
“If you look at all of the aspects of the museum, that includes food service and the kind of concessions that one has and the rest, we’re probably talking on the order of 60 to 80 employees,” said Richard Celeste, the president of the U.S. Olympic Museum Board.
If all goes according to plan, the museum will open in early 2018.
