COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum is thrilled to announce Starting Line Saturdays, a new event series on the first Saturday of each month. This program offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the excitement and inspiration of Team USA through interactive activities, including athlete meet & greets, exclusive artifact demonstrations, and museum-wide trivia challenges.

On the first Saturday of each month, guests will be able to meet Team USA athletes, get an up-close look at artifacts not currently on display, and test their knowledge with Olympic and Paralympic trivia throughout the museum. We’re also launching a brand-new, hour-long series called Team Behind the Team, where members of the Olympic and Paralympic community will share insights into their pivotal roles supporting Team USA’s journey to success. 

Upcoming Team Behind the Team Discussions: 

  • Oct.  5: Tyler Carter // Paralympic alpine skier and Manager of Classification at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, discussing Paralympic Classification. 
  • Nov. 2: Bernard Sandoval // Local artist, business owner, and co-chair of Olympic City USA task force will share the stories behind his art and Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA 
  • Dec. 7: Bill Zadick // 2024 U.S. Olympic Men’s Freestyle Head Coach will discuss leadership and success in the sport of wrestling at the 2024 Games.  

 

October 5 Programming Highlights: 
To kick off the first Starting Line Saturday on Oct. 5, guests are invited to meet Tyler Carter, a three-time Paralympic skier. The day will feature several exciting activities for fans of all ages: 

  • Artifact Demonstrations // 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Get up close to some of the most iconic items from past Olympic and Paralympic Games. Discover the history and inspiring stories behind these artifacts that celebrate Team USA’s triumphs. 
  • Athlete Meet & Greet // 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Meet Tyler Carter, a three-time alpine Paralympian, as he greets fans and shares his Paralympic journey. 
  • Team Behind the Team Discussion // 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Join Carter for a discussion on Paralympic Classification. As the Manager of Classification at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Carter will share insights into the unique system that ensures fair competition for athletes across Paralympic sports. The discussion will take place in the Chapman Event Space. 

 

Throughout the day, guests can also enjoy museum-wide trivia, challenging themselves on Team USA history and exploring the inspiring stories and athletes that have made their mark on the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
