The Paris Olympic Games may have ended, but the excitement continues as we gear up for the Paralympic Games! Join us at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum to celebrate the ongoing spirit of Paris 2024.
Experience the energy of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games right here in Olympic City USA. From August 28 through September 8, our 2024 Paris Summer Fest celebration continues, offering even more opportunities to honor Team USA.
Paris Summer Fest features daily activities, including artifact demonstrations and live coverage from the Paris Paralympic Games displayed on our 40-foot LED wall. On weekends, don’t miss the chance to meet Olympic and Paralympic athletes during our special athlete meet-and-greet sessions.
The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last ticket sold at 4 p.m.

Michael Spinks won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympics, like his brother Leon. As a professional, he became WBA light-heavyweight champion in 1981, unified the title in 1983, and made history by winning the IBF heavyweight title in 1985. Spinks defended his title against Larry Holmes in 1986 but lost to Mike Tyson in 1988, retiring with a record of 31 wins and one loss.

Carly Patterson, born in Baton Rouge, LA, gained international fame at the 2004 Athens Olympics, becoming the first American woman in 20 years to win the all-around gold medal. Her performances also helped the U.S. team secure a silver medal. After retiring from gymnastics, Carly pursued a career in music and motivational speaking. Inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, she now advocates for healthy living and youth sports. Carly lives in Dallas with her husband Mark, their two children, and their pets.

Kara Winger if a four-time Olympian in the sport of javelin and lives right here in Olympic City USA. Her Olympic career spans from 2004 through 2020 and is the current American record holder. Kara won a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships in javelin throw and earned her MBA through DeVry University’s scholarship program.

Jenny Arthur earned a spot on the 2016 Olympic Team in the sport of weightlifting. She won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships (Total), and multiple silver medals at the Pan American Championships in 2013, 2014, and 2019. Additionally, she was the 2013 Junior Pan American Champion and won a silver medal at the 2013 IWF Junior Worlds.

Samantha Schultz is a 2020 Olympic modern pentathlete with a passion for the outdoors. Sammy draws inspiration from athletes like Lindsey Vonn and Lopez Lamong, as well as those she has met at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. Her athletic career is impressive, with highlights including a gold medal at the 2012 U.S. Nationals and a bronze medal at the 2013 U.S. Nationals.

Meet Paralympian Billy Lister at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum! Billy, a dedicated and inspiring athlete, has overcome incredible challenges to compete at the highest level in cycling. Diagnosed with a brain arteriovenous malformation at age 17, he turned his journey of recovery into one of athletic triumph. Billy represented Team USA at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, showcasing his resilience and determination. Join us for an exclusive opportunity to hear his story and learn about his experiences.

Mike Tagliapietra is a Paralympic shooter who has been part of the USA Shooting team since discovering the sport at the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club. After an accident in 2003, Mike took a break from shooting but returned to the sport with determination. He became a resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, leading to remarkable achievements. Mike was named USA Shooting's Paralympic Athlete of the Year in 2014 and 2015 and competed at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. He now lives and resides in Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA.

Ashley Nashleanas is a Paralympic swimmer who has represented the United States in various international competitions. She has competed as a Paralympic swimmer in the S11 classification. She has overcome significant challenges in her life and has become a source of inspiration for many through her dedication and success in the sport.

McClain Hermes, a Paralympian and World Champion in swimming and ParaTriathlon, has transformed her legal blindness into a remarkable athletic career. She holds over 20 American records and numerous international medals. At 15, she was the youngest member of the 2016 USA Paralympic Team in Rio and became a World Champion in 2017, earning gold in the 400m freestyle. McClain also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, and in 2023, she won a bronze medal at the World Championships and placed 8th in triathlon.

Patrick Halgren’s favorite part about alpine skiing is the connection between technique and speed. “You can’t fake fast,” says Halgren. He is a believer that he was meant for something greater, so he is channeling his training to honor his late twin brother Lucas ‘Sven’ Halgren, who encouraged him to take up para skiing after his accident in 2013 which resulted in a left leg amputation. Patrick rose through the U.S. ranks and was nominated to the U.S. Para Alpine team in 2021, and he has since become a Paralympian (2022). When he’s not skiing, Patrick loves rollerblading and road-tripping.

The Downtown Summer Fest celebration is a free, indoor and outdoor event that runs in the plaza of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum.
Team USA fans can watch the Paris Games broadcast on KOAA News 5 on a giant outdoor screen, enjoy live entertainment, food and beverage plus Olympic and Paralympic athlete autograph sessions and sport demonstrations.
The event is free to attend, and Museum tickets are available for purchase.
