The History of Olympic & Paralympic Day
Since 1884, Olympic and Paralympic Day is celebrated worldwide June 23, honoring the birth of the modern Olympic Games. It’s a global celebration of sport, inclusion, and unity that encourages people of all abilities to get active, learn about Olympic values, and celebrate the achievements and accolades athletes. The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee worked with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee to join the two movements and recognize the day as Olympic and Paralympic Day.
