“Our goal at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum is to make the history and values of the Olympic and Paralympic movements accessible to all,” said Marisa Wigglesworth, CEO of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. “Through this collaboration with the International Society of Olympic Historians, we’re expanding our digital reach and giving audiences worldwide the opportunity to engage with the history of the Games in a meaningful and educational way.”
The first installment of the series, The Role of the IOC Presidency: Leadership, Legacy, and the Future, will explore the presidency of the International Olympic Committee. The discussion will center on the evolving role of IOC presidents throughout history, their influence on the direction of the Games, and what the future might hold under new leadership.
The session will be moderated by Lindsay Huban, USOPM’s Chief Content & Integration Officer, and will feature expert insights from:
- Richard Pound – IOC Member (1978–2022), ISOH Executive Board Member, and former IOC Vice President
- Philip Barker – Editor-in-Chief of the ISOH Journal of Olympic History and career as an Olympic journalist
In September, the series will return with Games Memorabilia, focusing on the critical work of historians, museums, and collectors in safeguarding artifacts, stories, and traditions for future generations.
ISOH President Dr. Christian Wacker emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “We greatly appreciate this opportunity for the International Society of Olympic Historians to partner with the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum and its many fans and followers of the Games. Through this partnership series, anyone may enjoy a detailed dose of Olympic and Paralympic history.”
Designed for Games enthusiasts, educators, researchers, and history buffs, Games History Hour offers a rare opportunity to learn from some of the foremost experts in the field. Each session will feature a structured discussion with pre-submitted questions from USOPM members woven into the conversation. The live sessions will be available for on-demand viewing afterward on the USOPM and ISOH website and YouTube channel.
