The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum has developed elementary, middle and high school Teacher’s Guides that provide STEM-related classroom lessons correlated to the Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core State Standards and Colorado Academic Standards. These lessons also are excellent additions for home school lessons plans and supplement at-home learning.
Every two years the Olympic and Paralympic Games give the world a much-needed reminder of the values and ideals that unite us all. The Games promote peace, harmony and equality and uphold the principles of friendship, fair play, and respect. The USOPM Teacher’s Guides will lead your students through a story of achievement at the highest levels of international competition. Students will be inspired by the personal stories of U.S. Olympians and Paralympians who have harnessed their passion to reach the pinnacle of sport.
Using the topic of elite sports, along with the interactive experiences at the Museum itself, the lessons connect the educational themes of the exhibition to your national and local STEAM content requirements. The curriculum offers memorable learning experiences that are interdisciplinary and applicable across several grade levels and areas of study. The guides are flexible; use them to best meet the needs and capabilities of your class.
With Team USA on your side, you are sure to win gold with your students throughout the school year. Now, let’s ignite the flame and start the Games!
