COLORADO SPRINGS – The new U.S. Olympic Museum is about half a year away from completion.
Construction began back in the summer of 2017 on South Sierra Madre. St. When it’s finished, along with the Olympic Hall of Fame, it will share inspiring stories of U.S. Olympians and Paralympians.
Mayor John Suthers has said the museum will feature state-of-the-art exhibits and thinks it will have a huge economic impact on Colorado Springs. Its already building a sense of pride for the men and women who are building it.
“It’s definitely been impactful having the workers, most of which are local based,” says construction manager John McCorkle, “They take a lot of pride in what they do given the significance of this project to the city of Colorado Springs.”
Once the doors are open, one of the first artifacts you might recognize could be the original scoreboard from the Miracle On Ice hockey game.
Guests can participate in athlete meet-and-greets, artifact demonstrations, and museum trivia.
